About
Christina Suncatcher is one of the largest of the sculptures installed throughout the AWE network as part of the Water Spirit series. Two thatched arches, constructed of locally-harvested Phragmites reed, create a grand entrance onto DuPont Environmental Education Center's deck. The arches highlight a view of the Christina River, creating a frame for the landscape in the path of the sun. This installation and large space that it contains lends drama to gatherings, performances, meals, and other activities (conducted in compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines) that you will find on our Events page as they are scheduled.
Accessibility info
The pathway into the center and onto the boardwalk that goes over the marsh is completely wheelchair accessible via a long ramp, elevators, and the boardwalk. Once you get onto the boardwalk it is about 1/8 mile to the installation.
