About

In 2018, most of the trees in this section of forest were brought down by heavy snow followed by high winds—the type of extreme, unseasonal weather events that are becoming more common as climate change progresses. These benches were carved from a few of the trees that fell in the storm. They create a space for reflection and highlight the dislocated, uneasy feeling that comes with witnessing these changes in our lifetimes.

Accessibility & Location

The installation can be found on the Two Ponds trail about 1 mile from the main building at PEEC. The trail is not difficult but is unpaved and may not be appropriate for those using wheelchairs and other mobility assistive devices. See trail map and guide here, or consult PEEC staff for more detailed information.
