Camden Crew

Build Assistants, Nature’s Long Memory and Christina Suncatcher

The Camden Crew have been working with Lenapehoking Watershed artist Sarah Kavage since late-Spring assisting in the design and construction of the Water Spirit installations in Camden, New Jersey and Wilmington, Delaware. From this Summer and on until the Fall, the Crew will be leading in the development of programming around Nature’s Long Memory, Kavage’s satellite pop-up sculpture that will be installed at Watershed Alliance partner sites in and around Camden.

Adriana Amador-Chacon (top left, Marvel t-shirt) is a painter and organizer based in Camden. Her visual work consists of vibrant portraits of animals placed within natural and psychedelic environments; these elements played into her live painting events held in Philadelphia and Camden prior to covid. Amador-Chacon has worked with a variety of area organizations in varying capacities including Watu Moja, Philly Art Collective, Art From the Heart (Philly), Camden Youth Art Gallery, Idea Center for the Arts, and Voices in Power. She is currently a Fellow for the Alliance for Watershed Education organizing art and education programs for Camden Residents this Summer.

Monica Perez (top right, yellow t-shirt) is a Puebla-born (MX) artist and storyteller based in Camden. In her visual and narrative works she seeks to reconnect with her indigenous roots by accessing Aztec iconography and other earthly imagery representing transformation and discovery. She is a Hopeworks alumni and currently works as an operations intern for The Hive, an organization which aims to amplify the voices of and create opportunities for Philadelphia and Camden youth.

Brein “Zombie” Garcia (bottom left, facial hair) is a Camden-born multidisciplinary artist working in audio, video and digital image production. His practice moves across a wide spectrum of genres and styles, from Lo-fi, Hip Hop and Metal Music to traditional painting and ink drawing, to documentary filmmaking. Every project is a test of his own creative capacity and an attempt to emulate the natural world and its forms. Collaboration has played a key role in his development as an artist, collaborating with a variety of musical/visual artists based in South Jersey and Philadelphia. Recently, Brein’s interest in nature and its visual expression has expanded into gardening and creating sites of connection and nourishment for his community.

Priscilla Rios (bottom right, colorful hair) is a Camden-born Visionary Artist and painter working in a variety of visual mediums: large scale murals, acrylic painting, and digital imaging. Their work focuses on the expression of self through natural and spiritual imagery including images of plants, insects and psychedelic forms along with portraits of friends and family. Rios is currently a Fellow for the Alliance for Watershed Education organizing Kayaking and education programs for Camden Residents this Summer.
